CREAM AND CREPE CAFE
Welcome to the Cream and Crepe Café. This delightful restaurant has been featured in Midwest Living Magazine, Milwaukee Magazine and Wisconsin Trails. Step inside and you'll know why. The décor of this charming creperie, nestled on the main floor of the former Wittenberg Woolen Mill (circa 1864), is an appealing hideaway. Tall paned windows flood the room with natural light and frame the view of Cedar Creek rushing over the dam. Lovely antique quilts on the white-washed stone walls, original wooden plank floors, natural hanging greenery and antique tables and chairs will entice you to sit down for a hearty lunch or dinner.
The wafting aroma of homemade soups is hard to resist. Although there are several to choose from, Cream of Broccoli is a daily favorite. There is also a full complement of sandwiches, including Ham & Swiss, Roast Beef and Turkey Croissant. Main dish and dinner salads are also available.
Crepes are the real stars at this café and there are many selections, all of them named after quilt patterns. A few favorites include the the Noon Day Lily, loaded with spinach, bacon, mushrooms and onions with a Swiss almond cheese sauce, the Water Wheel features shrimp, mushrooms, green peppers, water chestnuts and onions topped with cheddar, or the Mill's Delight combining corned beef, sauerkraut, and melted Swiss topped with a savory horseradish sauce.
Make sure you save room for the famously irresistible dessert crepes. Ten mouth-watering choices include the Apple Blossom with sweet hot apples over a vanilla frozen custard filled crepe with whipped cream and cinnamon, the Mocha Ambrosia, loaded with coffee ice cream tucked into a delicate crepe with rich chocolate sauce and whipped cream or the X-Quisite, vanilla frozen custard in a crepe topped with caramel, hot fudge, whipped cream and crushed nuts.
Featured wines by the glass or bottle include those of Cedar Creek Winery. Beer, soft drinks and cider are also available.
